WD VelociRaptor WD 1000DHTZ Test Drive
The WD VelociRaptor is now in the country. According to our friends from WD, the new WD VelociRaptor – 1 TB hard drive has the largest capacity in 10,000 RPM hard drive on the market today. It has an unmatched combination of performance, capacity and reliability, which makes it still the undefeated and ultimate drive for power users. Well… let see about that.
Last week I requested from our friends in Western Digital if they could provide a demo product, so that Qlick Tech Blog can review the harddrive. Fortunately they did send me one straight to my office table.

The Qlick Tech Review:
I’ve install the WD VelociRaptor on my desktop at my office and compared it to a standard 500mb SATA Drive. According to my test result using the HDTune Benchmarking Software. The WD VelociRaptor proves to be cooler than my standard 500MB SATA Drive. Since WD VelociRaptor has a better spindle speed of 10k rpm, it also gives you better access time and transfer rate.
The main strength of the WD VelociRaptor is it’s outstanding read and write performance across the entire disk capacity make it a perfect match for the creative professional and enthusiast who uses a lot of space in image editing and creating videos. It’s ideal to those who also wants to optimize their tools, enhance productivity, and increase storage space at the same time. Based on my test result WD 1000DHTZ is 200% faster than my standard drive.
WD VelociRaptor comes with a drive cooling technology called IcePack, I find it more reliable and it will surely extend the life of the drive. Furthermore, all Western Digital Hard Drives comes with a 5 year warranty that what I love about it.
WD VelociRaptor Price
The cost…hmmm, The MSRP for the WD VelociRaptor 1 TB is Php 13, 795.00, the 500 GB version is Php 9, 295.00 and the 250 GB version is Php 7, 195.00, honestly it’s quite expensive compared to a 7500rpm drive. But comparing to a Solid-state Drive on a cost per Gigabytes it is cheaper at Php 57.00 per GB compared to Php13.00 GB for the WD VelociRaptor.
